Maine & New Hampshire
15-17 July 2018
Re-entering the USA from the top right corner, we have a nice drive across Maine to our first stop - Camp Caribou set on a spectacular peninsula in a remote lake. We are considering this boys camp for Alex in 2019. The owner gives us a great tour and Alex likes the place. I wish I could go back to camp! we make one more lunch stop in Maine at Portsmouth - a very nice looking town and one we wouldn't mind returning to. Alex is happy since they have a Five Guys! No trip to this area would be complete with a raid on the huge factory outlet malls of Kittery Maine, and Jana takes advantage of this! Finally we make it to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, staying in the very central condo kindly loaned to us by friend of Jana's. A great meal in a local Indian restaurant went down a treat.
For our last full day of holiday, Alex and Gordon hit the water park! A very hot day, this was the perfect place to be, even if a bit busy. In the evening the boys drive to Pelham and visit Alex's uncle Jeff and cousin Chris; where we have a brutal game of Talisman accompanied by Jeff's excellent chilli & beer (coke for Alex!). Alex of course wins...
We fly out in the evening of Tuesday 17.7 but we get the opportunity to finish our holiday visiting Jana's dear friend Nancy, where we enjoy lunch for her 91st birthday celebration!
Sadly we need to fly home, and several movies (Caddy Shack!) and many hours later we make our weary arrival at Prague
